It’s official, February in Perth should be renamed … debt-ruary, stamina-ruary, lack of sleep-ruary, come to mind. With the Festival of Perth starting this weekend and Fringe World still on, both time and money are in very short supply.

Fringe World alone boasts 300+ shows spread over 69 venues. One of my favourites is the Spiegeltent, which I saw for the first time last year. Built in 1905 the tent is one of the few remaining mirror tents in the world. I was lucky enough to take a peek inside during one of her quieter moments.

Aside from the leadlight glass, mirrors and velvet, what caught my eye was the detailed woodwork and the indents left in the wood over time. As I stood there I could only ponder the myriad of events and audiences that had been inside her. If you make it to a show I hope you take a moment to ponder about the life she has had too.
