The Lifeboats Won! (Central Tafe graduates win Sculpture by the Sea)

They won!!!

The local team of Central Tafe graduates Marwa Fahmy, Kate Parker, Emma Danks, Elizabeth Marpole and Stephen Genovese took out the overall prize in this years Sculpture by the Sea competition. The NAB Western Australian Sculptor Scholarship prize includes $15,000 and an invitation to exhibit at the Bondi 2011 Sculpture by the Sea, where they can either show the same installation or a new one.

The surprised team beat local and international artists including some highly respected peers.

After the announcement, and a range of media commitments, they were still trying to take in their win.

 It’s a reminder that a good idea, a lot of hard work, determination to see a plan through, and the odd trip to Coles can result in amazing things.

Here’s hoping the $15,000 will keep them afloat for a while so we can see more of their work. In the meantime anyone in Sydney should keep an eye out for them in Bondi.
