10 Things I did Today that I couldn’t have 100 years ago (International Womens Day)

Mar 8, 2011 | Pondering Life

The 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, got me pondering about the things I was able to do today, that I probably couldn’t have done 100 years ago.

Thanks to IMLS DCC
This is what I came up with over a long lunch with four wonderful female friends.
  1. Go out without a chaperone
  2. Go out wearing trousers, no corset or bra (should your body type permit)
  3. Drive myself to the lunch date, park the car and walk to the restaurant by myself
  4. Have lunch with four female friends; a doctor, a lawyer, a public servant administrator and a real estate agent
  5. Enter a bar and drink alcohol in a public place
  6. Pay for myself
  7. Laugh raucously in a highly unladylike fashion
  8. Speak publicly about unmentionable topics including the vagaries of the opposite sex
  9. Enter a casino and place a bet
  10. Voice my opinions in print, and worldwide
Oh and celebrate International Women’s Day.
Thank you to all the women past and present who made this possible.

What about you, did you get up to anything special?
