Last year I told you about a group of guys who put a sheet of black plastic down in their local park on Australia Day, added some dishwashing liquid and turned on the hose. What followed was an afternoon of fun and friendship (see story here). Twelve months later the same thing was attempted on St George’s Terrace … kind of.

Sure Slide Street is made up of plastic, water and soap … but the were a few differences from the good old backyard variety.
The first difference was the plastic was Aussie green not black, … oh and it was spread out over 315 metres, right the way down St George’s Terrace, the main street in Perth CBD.Â

Secondly your group of mates had grown from 6 to somewhere around 6,000, give or take.

Third there was a DJ pumping out music, which was just as well as it was a long walk back up the hill for another go on the slide.

Fourth, the Brownes iced coffee arrived in a much more elaborate dispenser.

Sure there were a few issues on the day, but I’m sure they’ll have them worked out by the time they set up again in Fremantle. Definitely worth a look see.
