Now You See Me Now You Don’t is a very worthy edition to the series of magical heist movies.

Now You See Me Now You Don’t

If you’ve seen the first two movies you’ll know all about the Four Horsemen, if not, where have you been?

The Four Horsemen are a group of illusionists made up of J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) and Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson). In true Pied Pier form they rob from the rich and give to the poor. Behind the scenes they’re aided by Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman). This time there’s been a change.

Three new young illusionists have entered their turf, June (Ariana Greenblatt), Bosco (Dominic Sessa) and Charlie (Justice Smith). How will the old guard react?

Add in baddie Veronika Vanderberg (Rosamund Pike) who has an intense lust for diamonds. Well you know what they say about girls and diamonds?

As the audience applauded, I pondered:

  1. It was fantastic to see the old team back again;
  2. The new crew held their own and then some. Justice Smith was utterly believable from beginning to end;
  3. It was also refreshing to see a female baddie. Rosamund Pike stole the show as a greedy South African;
  4. Clearly watching magic tricks doesn’t get old. You can’t look away or you’ll miss something;
  5. The movie is also a class in how to extend a movie series to a new generation, you add in a new generation.
