After seeing the end of the movie The Life Of Chuck, I want to go back and watch the beginning. A deeply moving movie.

Some of you might remember the movie The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button that sees Brad Pitt age in reverse. The Life Of Chuck also moves in reverse.
Told in three acts, the first sees teacher Marty Anderson (Chiwetel Ejiofor) show us around his crumbling world. I life without the internet, it’s almost unthinkable. As the destruction intensifies, a single billboard shines through.
Charles Krantz, 39 years, thanks Chuck
As more and more billboards appear around the town, no one seems to know who he is.
Charles ‘Chuck’ Kranz (Tom Hiddleston) is an ordinary man. Is he a newsreader? Has he retired?
Working quickly through Act 2 to Act 1 we learn that Chuck is an accountant. We watch as he moves from his late thirties and late teens (Jacob Tremblay) to early childhood (Benjamin Pajak). In the last chapter we meet his adoptive parents Sarah Krantz (Mia Sara) and Ablie Krantz (Mark Hamill).
It’s hard to talk about the movie as it’s best to just move through it. I can say the movie speaks to life, your life. The moments big and small that have made you who you are. It’s about love, what makes a family, what’s important and our place in the world.
As the lights came up and I tried to compose myself I pondered:
- The movie is unlike any other I’ve seen and it’s definitely unlike any Stephen King movie. If you’re not a fan of horror or Stephen King don’t be put off;
- Tom Hiddleston moves like shinny, silver liquid mercury. Having seen him dance on Graham Norton’s Show it was great to see his smooth moves on the big screen. The part of Chuck was made for him;
- Mark Hamill shows he’s still got it as he grabs your heart;
- The movie will leave you pondering about life in general. More importantly it will have thinking about your own life. Do the issues you’re hanging onto really matter? What’s really important? Who’s left a lasting impression? It may not be who you think.
