Twinless is one of those rare totally unique movies. Add in exceptional acting and it’s a definite watch.
Roman (Dylan O’Brien) is struggling to cope after the sudden loss of his twin brother. One day he attends a support group for twins who have lost their womb buddy.
Also at the group is Dennis (James Sweeney) who just happens to be gay like Roman’s brother.
The two men strike up a friendship and soon find the large brother-shaped whole is filled. Roman’s life is getting back on track.
But when Dennis introduces Roman to his work colleague Marcie (Aisling Franciosi), sparks fly and Dennis is soon relegated to the third wheel in the relationship.
When Roman tells Marcie about Dennis’s background things don’t add up and she starts to wonder where the truth lies.
As lies are exposed I pondered:
- The movie explores the difference between love and obsession, overlayed with journeying through grief;
- It will have you second-guessing the relationships while hoping for the best;
- Both lead actors do an excellent job, with O’Brien a standout. I’ll definitely be watching to see what else he does;
- The story cleverly twists time and has you moving from highly emotional moments to muffled giggles;
- A totally unique movie.
